Healing Our Core Issues Trainings
Level 1 CEU Objectives
This is an introductory level course, 28 CEU program for all mental health clinicians. The following objectives will be achieved:
Participants will demonstrate:
- Competency in assessing for Developmental and Relational Trauma by conducting the DART Assessment
- Ability to explain the components of the Functional Adult
- Understanding of the components of family dysfunction
- Knowledge and understanding of the concepts of the framework for Healing Our Core Issues model to their clinical practice
- Understanding the application of family of origin analysis as it relates to their self-report
- Thorough understanding of the HOCI framework
- Understanding of family constellations/roles within families and how they protected clients historically
- Understanding of the historical selves
Participants will be able to describe:
- Developmental trauma
- Relational trauma
- The impact of developmental and relational trauma on adult functioning
- How to provide experiential therapy utilizing felt experiences and historical selves to work with trauma in clients
- How mindfulness and somatic work assist clients in integrating their traumatic experiences
Participants will be able to discuss and apply the core area and practice of:
- Value and self-worth
- "Loving the self"
- Protection and boundaries
- "Protecting the self"
- Owning your reality and humanity
- "Knowing the self"
- Owning your needs/wants
- "Caring for the self"
- Balance and moderation
- Moderating and “containing the self"

Participants will observe a video demonstration and identify and apply the techniques involved in the DART assessment by demonstrating:
- Role of the Therapist in DART assessment
- Role of the Client in DART assessment
- Role of the Observer of therapist and client in DART assessment
Participants will demonstrate the ability to analyze the small group experience:
- As a therapist using the HOCI model
- As a client using the HOCI model
Participants will demonstrate the ability to integrate all the elements of this model into a client’s ongoing treatment plan.
Participants will be able to discuss and apply how this treatment approach can be used in a variety of clinical settings.

Level 2 CEU Objectives
This is an advanced level course, 24 CEU program for all mental health clinicians. The following objectives will be achieved:
Report on their experience since Level I training as it applies to the application of the 6 core issues:
1. Valuable/Self Esteem
2. Vulnerable and need to be Protected/Boundary work
3. Imperfect/Understand sense of Self/Reality
4. Evaluating Needs and Wants/ Self-care
5. Spontaneous/ Moderate in life
6. Attachment/Interdependence)
Review the DART Assessment AND:
- Learn to apply it to “Reparenting Your Historical Selves” (Inner Child work) experience
- Learn to apply it to “Standing in Your Truth” (Energy and Feelings Release work) experience
Participants will observe a video demonstration and identify and apply the techniques in:
- Reparenting the Historical Self.
- Standing in Your Truth Process.

Participants will demonstrate the role of:
- Observer of the therapist and client in Reparenting Your Historical Selves
- Client in Reparenting Your Historical Selves
- Therapist in Reparenting Your Historical Selves
- Observer of the therapist and client in Standing in Your Truth
- Client in Standing in Your Truth
- Therapist in Standing in Your Truth
Participants will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts of:
- Reparenting Your Historical Selves Process
- Standing in Your Truth Process
Participants will demonstrate knowledge of how to guide a client through the:
- Reparenting Your Historical Selves Process
- Standing in Your Truth Process
Participants will be able to:
- Apply all the elements of this model to a client’s ongoing treatment plan
- Understand how this treatment approach can be used in a variety of clinical settings
- Apply each part of the Healing Our Core Issues model as it relates to their clinical practice

Level 3 CEU Objectives
Nashville, TN September 17-20, 2025
(Capacity 16 people)
This four-day training will encompass a variety of teaching styles. It will include some lectures, large and small group discussions, and primarily experiential practicum. To attend Level 3 you need to have completed Level 2.
This training uses the DART (Developmental and Relational Trauma) Assessment to map your client’s childhood developmental history and incorporates and the other two essential DART Processes. Using demonstration and small group role plays, practitioners learn the steps to combine the “Re-parenting the Historical Selves” and “Standing in Your Truth” Processes. This practicum consists of working with your family of origin and trauma issues with a role-play partner in a small group with a trained facilitator. After this training, you will have advanced and nuanced skills to apply in your practice for healing your client’s childhood developmental trauma.
The total cost of the 2025 Level 3 workshop is $1,600. You can split payments $800 or pay in full.
